QR code generator

Make a QR code for a link, Wi-Fi network, contact card, email or phone number. Download as PNG or SVG. These are static codes: they work forever and don’t track scans.

QR codes are generated in your browser. Nothing you type — including Wi-Fi passwords — is uploaded.

Static vs dynamic QR codes

Many “free” QR sites make dynamic codes that point to their own redirect server, then stop working when a trial ends. Codes made here are static: the link or data is stored in the pattern itself, so they keep working forever and nobody can track who scans them. The trade-off is that you can’t change where a static code points after printing it.

Printing tips

  • Keep strong contrast: dark code on a light background. Inverted or pale codes fail on many phones.
  • Leave the white quiet zone around the edge.
  • Print at least 2 × 2 cm, and bigger for posters scanned from a distance (about 1/10 of the scanning distance).
  • Use higher error correction if the code may get scuffed or if you’ll put a logo over the middle.
  • Download SVG for print; it stays sharp at any size.

Frequently asked questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. They’re static codes with your data inside, so they work as long as the link itself works.

Can I track how many people scan my code?

Not with a static code. Add tracking parameters (such as ?utm_source=poster) to your link and check your website analytics instead.

Is it free for commercial use?

Yes. Use the codes on menus, packaging, flyers or anything else.

Why won’t my QR code scan?

Usually low contrast, too small a print size, or too much data. Shorten the text, use dark-on-light colours, and print larger.
